Why goat milk?

Ancient Egypt's Cleopatra was know for her beautiful skin.  The Secret?  She soaked in baths of fresh milk.  Modern labs have discovered that the lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxyl acid.  This natural material dissolves the glue that holds dead skin cells together, cleaning the skin down to it's deepest layers.  It also aids in stimulating skin cell renewal.

Milk is also good for the skin because it has hydrating properties which promote moisture and prevent dryness.  Milk contains essential proteins and amino acids as well as vitamin A that nourish the skin.  The beta-hydroxyl acids act as natural skin conditioners which ex foliate the dead skin cells and soothe the layer underneath to produce soft, glowing skin.

Healthy skin has pH of 5.5.  This natural acidity (known as the acid mantle) is responsible for maintaining the skin's natural flora and protecting against bacteria Dan fugal colonization.  When this natural balance is disrupted, infection may occur.  Goat milk is especially good for the skin as it's pH is very close to our own skin.  This makes the soap extremely gentle and your skin will easily absorb the vitamins, minerals and lipids which seal in moisture.

Why handcrafted soap?

Commercial soap is drying to your skin.  Handmade true soap contains all of the glycerin from the soap making process that commercial soap makers remove.  They then sell that glycerin to beauty companies so they can add moisturizing ability to their products.  This glycerin naturally brings moisture to the skin so the handcrafted goats milk soap works with it to bring easily absorbable vitamins and minerals as well.  Instead of stripping your skin of moisture, like the commercial soaps tend to do,  goat milk soap add the moisture and nurture that your skin needs to retain it's own natural healing ability.  When using goat milk soap  you will also notice you will not have to use as much lotion.  This is a sure sign your skin is retaining the moisture it needs.

Dermatologists recommend goat milk soap for relief from dry, itchy skin.  The nutrients in the goat milk include Vitamin A which slows down the effects of aging and zinc which helps maintain the skins natural elasticity.  You can also use goats milk soap for acne, eczema and psoriasis.

What are the ingredients?

Our goat milk soap only contains natural ingredients.  Other soap makers may add colors or perfumes, but we prefer to keep ours 100% natural.  This aids in preserving all the wonderful properties of the goat's milk as well as allowing those who are allergic to scents and dyes to use our soap.  Check to be sure the soap you purchase has 100% natural ingredients.  This will give you your best skin results.

Our soap contains coconut oil, olive oil, vegetable oil, pure and undiluted goats milk as well as quality herbs and essential oilsWe also use lye in our soap which is essential for the soaponification process.  This is where a chemical reaction occurs when combining oils and fats with an alkali (in this case the goats milk) which then turns it into a bar of soap.  Once the curing process is through the lye is no longer present, you just have a mild, pure, nourishing, moisturizing soap.

We also include essential oils and quality herbs which have properties ranging from promoting calmness and easing tension to soothing tired muscles and benefiting the immune system by encouraging stillness and tranquility.

You may not be Cleopatra, but you can have skin just as beautiful, soft and healthy by treating yourself to some goat milk soap from Serenity Soaps!

Try this simple beauty formula at home:   Add 2-4 cups of fresh goats milk to the bath water as the tub is filling.  Soak for about 20 minutes.  Gently rub your skin with a washcloth or loofah to remove the dead skin the milk has loosened. Rinse thoroughly after soaking.

Caution!: Very hot baths are not good for those with high blood pressure, and they can be draining for anyone.  Use caution when selecting the temperature of your bath water.  Skip this bath if you are allergic to goat milk.  You can substitute cow milk but only if you are NOT lactose intolerant.
